Quality Foundations: How Taporel Ensures Excellence

At Taporel, the quality of our composite insulator core rods is not just a promise—it is the result of rigorous scientific processes, world-class raw materials, and state-of-the-art manufacturing technology. Below is a detailed look at the pillars that support our product quality.

1. The Pultrusion Process

Pultrusion is a continuous manufacturing process used to produce reinforced polymer structural shapes with a uniform cross-section. Unlike extrusion, where material is pushed, pultrusion involves pulling the raw materials through a heated steel forming die using a continuous traction device.

The Core Mechanics:

  • Impregnation: Continuous reinforcements, such as fiberglass rovings and mats, are pulled through a “resin bath” where they are saturated (wetted) with a liquid resin matrix—a precise mixture of resin, fillers, and performance additives.
  • Forming & Curing: As the saturated fibers enter the heated die, the heat initiates the gelation and polymerization (hardening) of the resin.
  • Solidification: The result is a rigid, cured profile that precisely matches the shape of the die, offering exceptional structural integrity and electrical insulation.

2. Rigorous Raw Material Control

A high-quality core rod begins with superior materials. Taporel implements a strict “Triple-Inspection System” for all raw materials:

  • Fiberglass: We use high-purity E-glass or ECR-glass (acid-resistant) rovings to ensure maximum mechanical strength and dielectric properties.
  • Resin Matrix: Every batch of epoxy resin and curing agent undergoes viscosity, purity, and reactivity testing to ensure consistent curing performance.
  • VPI Technology: Our unique Vacuum Pressure Injection (VPI) technology ensures that the resin deeply penetrates the fiber bundles, eliminating microscopic voids (void-free) and preventing internal tracking or breakdown.

3. World-Class Manufacturing Facilities

Taporel’s production capacity and equipment precision are industry-leading:

  • 100 Automated Production Lines: Our large-scale capacity allows for consistent parameter control across every batch, ensuring that the pulling speed, temperature profile, and pressure remain within optimal ranges.
  • Intelligent Manufacturing: In 2024, Taporel passed the Intelligent Manufacturing Management System Certification, integrating digital monitoring into the production of every core rod.
  • Surface Treatment: Our 4th-generation “Zero-Dust” technology produces rods that require no surface grinding, preserving the integrity of the outer fiber layer and enhancing the bonding strength with the silicone rubber sheath.

4. Comprehensive Laboratory Testing

Before leaving our factory, every core rod is subjected to rigorous validation in our 24m-high High-Voltage Testing Hall:

  • 100% Power Frequency Withstand Test: Every single rod is tested for dielectric strength.
  • Mechanical Testing: Routine tensile, flexural, and torsional strength tests are performed on a 500kN machine.
  • Chemical & Reliability Tests: Including the 5000-hour stress-corrosion test, water diffusion tests, and dye penetration tests to ensure 50-year service life reliability.

Compliant with IEC 61109, GB/T 19519, DL/T 864, and ASTM Standards.
